Preview and test your checkout experience

Test your checkout experience and see what your event set-up looks like in action!

Updated this week

We highly recommend you preview your event page before going live with ticket sales to ensure a smooth on-sale. You'll want to make sure:

  • Your ticketing is set-up correctly and is easy for buyers to understand

  • You have included all important event information where neccessary

  • You’re capturing all the data that you need

While your event is in draft you can still test out and preview the entire checkout experience as a buyer would see

You can continue to make any changes to your event even if you publish it

Here are some things to consider for your event:

How to preview your event page

While managing your event click preview in the top right next to publish to see your event page in both desktop and mobile views. This is the exact same event page your ticket buyers will see.

You can continue through the entire checkout process as if you were a ticket buyer.

Put yourself in the shoes of a potential buyer

Do you have enough information? Are the ticketing options clear? Do you need to ask more information or is it too lengthy?

A confusing or lengthy checkout process may prevent sales.

Share the event preview with your team

Events that are in draft can only be accessed by other Humanitix users that have been shared access to the event. They must also use the preview link.

However, you can also share the direct, tokenised link to the preview with anyone regardless of whether they have an account on Humanitix or not.

Click preview and then select view in new tab. This will open your event page preview in a new tab in your browser.

While on the event page preview tab, copy the entire link that appears in your browser's address or URL bar and share this with your team.

Share access to your draft event with your team

If you'd like a colleague to collaborate on an event including continuing to build the event or manage it, you can share event access from your account to theirs. Giving them access via Humanitix means they will use their own login to access and view the event at anytime.

Head to account > permissions on the top menu bar and click share permissions. Enter the email address of the user who will be prompted to create an account if they do not have one already.

How to register a 'test' ticket for yourself

You can track the entire customer journey including receiving a confirmation email for yourself by registering a ticket under your details. To avoid making an actual payment, if your event is paid, you can use one of several methods to generate a "free" ticket.

Any ticket you register for an event is a 'valid' ticket. These tickets/orders cannot be deleted entirely but you can cancel and restock them.

Create a 'test' ticket with a manual order

Manual orders can be used to generate complimentary tickets for friends, family, VIP etc. or account for sales that have been made outside of Humanitix but can also be used to register a complimentary ticket for yourself without needing to take payment.

  1. Manage your event via the events tab

  2. Navigate to orders/refunds > orders

  3. Click + new manual order

  4. Select complimentary as the payment type

  5. Increase the quantity of a ticket to add to your order and select continue manual order

  6. Enter your email address in the buyer details and any required ticket information

  7. Click continue

  8. You will receive a confirmation email with your digital ticket attached.

Register a test ticket with a free ticket type

You can create a "free" ticket type (with a value of $0) in order to register a ticket with the same buyer journey

  1. While on the tickets > ticket types page click + free to create a $0 ticket

  2. Click preview/view in the top right

  3. Select a ticket for yourself and enter your email address in the buyer details

  4. You will receive a confirmation email with digital ticket attached

You can disable a ticket type that was primarily used for testing by clicking the disable icon to the right.

This will hide the ticket from the event page and prevent any further sales.

Register a free ticket with a 100% off discount code

If you have multiple ticket types which are all paid you wish to track the full purchase journey of those ticket types, you can create and apply a discount code which applies a 100% off discount, making the ticket "free" and requiring no payment.

  1. Manage your event via the events tab

  2. Head to promote > discounts on the left-hand menu bar

  3. Click create discount code

  4. Give your code a name, eg: EVENTTESTING

  5. Set the code to a 100 percentage (%) discount

  6. Fill in the remaining required fields

  7. Click Save

Register a ticket using the discount code:

  1. Click preview in the top right

  2. Select get tickets to navigate to the ticket selection page

  3. Enter the discount code in the field provided

  4. Enter your email address in the buyer details

  5. Click save and checkout

  6. You’ll receive a confirmation email with your digital ticket attached.
