Event descriptions are a great way to give your audience more context as to what to expect from your event and make it more enticing. This article will outline some handy features and useful tips.
How to edit your event description
You'll be asked to enter your event description when first drafting your event, but you can add or edit your event description at anytime even after your event has been published:
Manage your event via the events tab
Navigate to page content on the left-hand menu
The title description can be changed by clicking the edit βοΈ icon to the right
Descriptions can also be removed entirely by clicking the "..." menu > delete button, or rearranged using the dots to the left.
Tips for writing your event description
Many visitors skim read. Research has shown that the average visitor may only spend 10-30 seconds on a webpage before moving, so it's important to use your event description wisely:
Make your event sound enticing and exciting
Give a detailed description of what to expect and the benefits of attending
Keep your copy short and sweet
Avoid using big blocks of text
Break it down into sections and use bullet points
How to change the size and styling of your text
When creating your event description, use the top action bar to adjust things like headings, bold, italics and add tables and links.
You can adjust the "text size" by using the format text option.
How to insert images into your event description
Tip: Add an image gallery for an easy way to add multiple images to your event page.
Scroll down on the event page and select + add section > image gallery
To add additional images to your event description, use the image uploader in the action menu bar.
Click the image icon
Drag and drop your image file, or click browse files to select from your devices file explorer
To resize an image, click on the image and drag the blue square in the corner.
How to insert videos into your event description
Tip: Add a video using a section for an easy way to highlight your event content on the event page
Scroll down on the event page and select + add section > video
Use the video uploader in the menu bar to embed a video into your event description.
We recommend using an embed code available from a YouTube or Vimeo upload. Standalone video files, such as MP4, cannot be embedded into the event description. We would recommend uploading them to an online video sharing platform like YouTube or Vimeo first.
Note: YouTube short links cannot be inserted using this video uploader, but are accepted using the video section.
If your video is hosted online but does not have an available embed code, you can hyperlink a piece of text in your event description. For example, you could upload a video to Google Drive or OneDrive and create a publicly shareable link
How to embed widgets and iframes into your event description
Using a provided iframe or HTML, you can embed Spotify playlists, social media feeds, PDF docs, or other embeddable webapps right into your event description
Find and copy the iframe or html of the embed
For example, it may look like this:

Adding SEO (search engine optimised) keywords to your event description
Your Humanitix event page will automatically be featured on Google and other search engine pages. Adding keywords to your event description can however, help it's discoverability. Commonly asked questions
Can I change the format of my text? E.g. Justify, Align Right
No, you cannot currently adjust the formatting of the text in your event description. There are no justify or align options available.
