Make your event more accessible, or take home more of your ticket sales; with Humanitix the choice is flexible.

Updated over 3 months ago

Humanitix only charges a booking fee on paid tickets, donations, and add-ons.

Free events and free items are FREE. There are no booking fees for manual orders.

For events with paid items, you can charge the Humanitix booking fee in 4 ways:

  • Passed on (default)

  • Absorbed

  • Split

  • Tipped

Humanitix charges a percentage fee and a fixed fee per ticket/item in each order

By default, ticket buyers are charged the Humanitix booking fee, which consists of your ticket price plus the Humanitix booking fee, while you receive 100% of the ticket sale.

There are some fees which cannot be customised:

  • AMEX surcharge - Always passed on to the ticket buyer

  • Afterpay and ZipPay - Always absorbed and deducted from your ticket sales (not available in all currencies)

  • Paypal surcharge - Always passed on to the ticket buyer (not available in all currencies)

How to change your events fee structure

By default, Humanitix booking fees are passed on

To change how the Humanitix booking fee is charged for a single event:

  1. Manage your event via the events tab

  2. Navigate to payments and fees > settings

  3. Select the booking fees tab

  4. Choose your fee structure

You can choose how booking fees are charged for the entire event or by ticket type

How to change your default fee structure for all events

You can set a default fee structure for your Humanitix account that will automatically apply to all events you create under this account.

  1. Select account > my account from the top menu bar

  2. Click default payment settings

  3. Select the booking fees tab

  4. Choose your fee structure and click save

  5. When prompted, click apply to all to apply this fee structure to all existing events

If you are running events across multiple currencies, you will need to apply these settings for each currency using the currency selector in the top right

Pass on the booking fee

When passing on the booking fee, ticket buyers are charged the face value of the ticket plus the booking fee

You receive the full face value of the ticket price

For example: You sell a $100 ticket that incurs a $5 booking fee*.

The buyer pays $105 (ticket price plus booking fee).

You earn $100

* Booking fee is an example only. Rates vary between currencies.

Absorb the booking fee

When absorbing the booking fee, ticket buyers are only charged the face value of the ticket

Booking fees are deducted from your ticket revenue prior to being paid out

For example: You sell a ticket for $100 that incurs a $5 booking fee*.

The buyer pays $100

You earn $95

* Booking fee is an example only. Rates vary between currencies.

Split the booking fee

When splitting the booking fee you can choose to pass on or absorb a set percent of the booking fee, including its percentage and fixed fee components. By doing so, you can share the costs of the Humanitix booking fee.

As a reminder, the Humanitix booking fee consists of a percentage fee and a fixed fee that are charged per ticket

For example: You want buyers to only pay 50% of the Humanitix booking fee. You can choose to pass on 50% of the Fixed Fee and 50% of the Percentage fee

On a $100 ticket that incurs a $5 booking fee the buyer will pay $102.50

You earn $97.50

Tip the booking fee

By choosing the tip fee option, the booking fee will be absorbed by default and buyers can choose to opt-in and pay the booking fees at checkout.

Additionally, you can set how much of the booking fee they will pay if they do opt-in to cover this cost.

For example: You see a $100 ticket with tip fees. The buyer will by default pay $100.
They choose however to 'tip fees" and therefore pay $105 (including a $5 booking fee).

You earn $100

If they had not tipped fees you would earn $95
