How to import tickets from another event
How to import tickets from another event
Updated over a week ago

Using the bulk upload feature you can generate tickets for attendees in a new event page using their existing name and email address details in a CSV or Excel spreadsheet.

This is great if you have cancelled or postponed a previous event, or are transferring existing attendees from another event within or outside Humanitix and want to issue tickets under a new event page.

Get your new event ready

  1. Create your new event in Humanitix.
We would recommend publishing your event before processing your bulk upload.

  2. Create all required ticket types and checkout questions including any data that was captured in a previous event that you would like to import into Humanitix.

To help with your reporting we recommend creating a separate ticket type(s) that you will use to bulk upload tickets for.

e.g. "General Admission - Transfer"

Separate ticket types allows you to easily keep track of how many tickets have been uploaded for that ticket type and does not skew your sales reporting for public paid tickets.

You can track your sales on the overview page under the earnings by ticket type report.

Import your attendee data using a bulk upload

  1. While managing your Humanitix event, navigate to manage attendees > bulk upload

  2. Download the template CSV file

  3. Export your attendee data from your existing event as a CSV

  4. Copy and paste your data under the relevant columns in the template CSV

  5. While on the manage attendees > bulk upload page select choose file and upload your CSV file

  6. Click load. Any errors in your data will appear here which you can review

  7. Review the mapped fields

  8. Click next and confirm your bulk upload

By default, a ticket will be generated and an order confirmation email will be sent to the buyer's email address. You can untick "email each order created" if you do not want these guests to receive an email

Prepare your CSV with your attendee data

It's important you download the template CSV file provided on the bulk upload page as each column and ticket type name must be in the correct format and spelling.

  1. One row on the CSV file = one ticket issued

  2. You can upload multiple ticket types at the same time, just ensure the correct ticket type is listed next to the buyer name

  3. You must enter in buyer first name, buyer last name, and buyer email

  4. All other information is optional can be entered using additional columns created by checkout questions

  5. You can group together multiple tickets into a single order by entering a unique identifier into the Order ID column
For example, if John Smith should recieve "3" tickets in a single order and confirmation email

  6. There is a maximum of 2000 rows per upload

Example CSV file data below:

When using the Order ID column, you must ensure that the buyer first name, last name, and email are identical for all rows (tickets) that are being grouped together.

Use checkout questions to and the relevant columns to capture any unique names on each ticket.

Thing to note for bulk uploads

  • All tickets generated via a bulk upload are listed as "$0" and "manual"

  • These tickets will count towards your ticket type and total event capacities as per normal. Be aware that they also ignore your capacities and can therefore 'oversell' your event. Review how many available tickets you have left before processing an upload.

  • You cannot action any refund on these tickets, you must do this on their original order if they are transferred from another event.

  • If your event has assigned seating, you cannot assign these tickets to seats during the bulk upload. Once the upload is complete, navigate to the seating maps > manage attendees to manually assign tickets to available seats using the unassigned tab.
