Afterpay is a "buy-now-pay-later" service that can be enabled as an additional payment method at checkout increasing your events accessibility and boosting ticket sales

Afterpay is currently only available for events running in USD, AUD and NZD


How to enable Afterpay for an event

  1. Manage your event via the events tab

  2. Navigate to the payments and fees > gateways page

  3. Click set up on Afterpay

  4. Toggle ON enable Afterpay > save


How to enable Afterpay for all events

You can enable Afterpay as a default which will apply to all events you create and apply it to all existing events.

  1. Navigate to account > my account on the top menu

  2. Select default payment gateways

  3. Click set up on Afterpay

  4. Toggle ON Enable Afterpay > save

  5. Click apply to all in the bottom right


How much does Afterpay cost?

Afterpay has no extra cost to buyers who will only pay any passed-on Humanitix booking fees. Afterpay does charge late fees for missed repayments.

Sales made via Afterpay however will incur fees that will be debited from your ticket sales prior to payout. These fees vary between currencies. See the breakdown below.

Afterpay fees must always be worn by a host. They cannot be passed on to a ticket buyer.

How does a buyer pay for a ticket using Afterpay?

A buyer will choose Afterpay as their payment method during checkout. They will be prompted to log into their Afterpay account to complete the transaction and receive their confirmation email from Humanitix.


How does Afterpay work with Humanitix?

A buyer completes their purchase on Humanitix using their Afterpay account and makes 4 interest-free repayments over the next 6 weeks. These repayments happen from the date of purchase irrespective of the event date.


Your event is credited with the full ticket sale. Afterpay manages the repayments for the ticket with the buyer directly.

You can process refunds for orders paid by Afterpay via Humanitix as per normal. Buyers are credited back to the card linked to their Afterpay account. All outstanding payments are cancelled.

Afterpay sales are managed by the Humanitix payment gateway. Sales are credited to the event and paid out within 5 business days after your event end date.

Afterpay sales are not credited to any Stripe or PIN account connected to the event.

Do I need an Afterpay account to enable it for my event?

No, you do not need to register for an Afterpay account yourself

I’ve connected Stripe to my event. Will Afterpay ticket sales go into my Stripe account?

No, ticket sales made via Afterpay do not go into your Stripe account and are settled separately and paid out at the end of the event completion date. You must nominate a bank account on your Humanitix event to receive these funds.
