What currency should I choose for my event?
What currency should I choose for my event?
Updated over a month ago

You must choose a currency when creating your event. This is the currency that all buyers will be charged in and the currency that ticket sales will be paid out in.

Only a single currency can be nominated for each event page. You cannot offer multiple currency options in a single event page.

If you want to offer multiple currency options for your event we would recommend duplicating your event page and selecting an appropriate currency for each event.

Considerations when accepting event payouts

Event payouts must be made into a bank account with the same currency as the event.

For example, if your event is charged in AUD, you must nominate an AUD bank account.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Humanitix cannot transfer payouts internationally and will not be able to process payouts for your event if you don’t have a local bank account.

What if I don't have a bank account in that currency to receive an event payout?

Humanitix cannot transfer payments into bank accounts of a different currency. While Humanitix cannot advise on any setup, tax obligations or other considerations, you may consider using third payment solutions such as Wise.com to establish a bank account in that currency to receive funds from Humanitix. You can then use this service to convert your funds into another currency.

Humanitix does not have a partnership with Wise and suggests this service as a general option only. Additional fees and charges may apply. We cannot advise on any setup. We recommend you do your own research into the best option for you.

Considerations for your buyers

You should choose a currency that the majority of buyers use. Foreign buyers will still be able to make a purchase, but they will be subject to a currency conversion from their bank/card issuer.

For example, if you are based in New Zealand but you are running an online event tailored for an American audience, best to select USD as the currency.

Can overseas buyers still buy tickets to my event if it's in a different currency?

Yes, if a buyer's card is in a different currency, they will be charged in the local currency of the event and their bank/card issuer will perform the currency conversion.

Note: Some financial institutions may charge additional fees for the foreign currency conversion.

Humanitix does not control the exchange rates of currencies or the fees charged for currency conversions.

Humanitix accepts any card payment via MasterCard, VISA or American Express. Buyers are not restricted by their location if it is different to that of the event.
