Lengthy checkout forms are a leading cause of customer drop-off. You can improve your checkout experience and conversion rates by moving your checkout questions to after checkout.
When enabled, your checkout question(s) will appear after a buyer has completed their payment. If any questions are required, buyers won't be able to access their digital tickets until all information is provided.
β Short checkout forms improve your conversion rates.
β Buyers can complete their purchase with Apple Pay or Google Pay in a few clicks, then complete the rest of their information later.
β If required is enabled, ensure that important information is captured before they enter the event.
β Great for events with lots of required information and/or where you expect buyers to purchase on behalf of others
Ask a checkout question after checkout
Manage your event and navigate to the checkout questions page. Create your desired questions.
Toggle ON after checkout next to each question.
What does the buyer's checkout journey look like?
When after checkout is enabled, the buyer will be shown this question on a new page after they have completed payment. For example:
Select tickets
Fill in buyer details (full name, email, mobile)
Complete payment method
Answer after checkout questions
They can choose to fill in some or all questions, or skip all questions entirely.
If checkout questions are required
If any checkout question is set to required, buyers will be prompted to complete information on their confirmation page.
They will also receive an intermediary confirmation email for their successful purchase with a prompt to complete their details.
Once all required questions are completed, they will receive their full order confirmation email with access to digital tickets.
Buyers will receive automatic email reminders until the event date. They will receive a maximum of 1 reminder email per day, and the number will vary depending on the event date and their purchase date:
2 minutes after purchase
24 hours after purchase
48 hours after purchase
Once a month after purchase
48 hours before the event
24 hours before the event
If checkout questions are NOT required (optional)
If any checkout is set to after checkout, but not required, the buyer will be asked to complete these questions after their payment.
However, a buyer will still receive a standard confirmation email with links to their digital tickets even if a buyer does not complete the questions, choosing to either skip or simply close their tab.
This option is best suited to collecting non-essential data for entry to the event, such as marketing data; for example, "Where did you hear about us?"
Managing orders that have not completed required checkout questions
If an order has not completed any required questions, it will appear in your orders report with a "tickets not sent" icon.
You can select actions > request missing info to resend their intermediary email, requesting them to fill in any unanswered questions prior to receiving tickets.
This should be the option you use if the buyer entered an incorrect email address or lost/deleted their original email.
Select actions > deliver tickets to bypass any required information and send the buyer their standard order confirmation email with access to digital tickets. They will not be required to answer any required questions.
Once this option has been used, the buyer will always have access to their tickets. They can update information via the manage order > update order page via their confirmation email, or you can edit their order via orders/refunds > orders. Click actions > edit...
