Connect Airwallex as your payment gateway

Updated today

Airwallex is a globally operating and trusted alternative payment gateway that you can connect to your events to receive flexible access to 100% of your ticket sales. Connecting Airwallex replaces the Humanitix and Stripe payment gateways for all card payments.

How does Airwallex work?

  • Complete a short onboarding application managed by the Airwallex team

  • Receive confirmation of your Airwallex account and payment terms

  • Airwallex becomes an available payment gateway for your event(s)

  • Ticket sales paid for by credit or debit card are collected and stored in your Airwallex dashboard of your Humanitix account

  • Draw down any available funds into your bank account as you need

You do not need to sign up via Airwallex directly, nor log in to their website.

You can manage your ticket sale payments entirely from your Airwallex dashboard in Humanitix.

* Processing times are an estimate given by the Airwallex team. Incorrect or missing documents/data will delay the processing of any application, so please ensure you review all details carefully.

How to connect Airwallex

To connect Airwallex with Humanitix, you'll need to log into your Humanitix account and complete a short onboarding process.

  1. Head to account > advanced on the top menu

  2. Select Airwallex on the left-hand menu
    > Direct link here

  3. Click agree to the terms and conditions

  4. Click connect Airwallex

KYC and KYB checks

Begin the short onboarding process, completing both a KYC and KYB check with Airwallex.

Airwallex typically approve accounts within a week, but may ask for more information if required. Incomplete or incorrect information can delay your application.

Please check your Airwallex page regularly during this process to check for updates and any requests for information (RFIs).

Once your Airwallex account is approved, the Humanitix team will enable Airwallex as the primary payment gateway for your account/event(s).

Please await confirmation before beginning ticket sales.

How do I receive funds from my Airwallex balance?

To transfer any available funds from your Airwallex balance, navigate to the account > advanced > Airwallex page.

Click the payouts tab and click sweep. Funds will be transferred to your nominated bank account within 1-3 business days.

You'll need to do this manually as funds become available.

You can only sweep funds that are "available". When completing the Airwallex onboarding process, you would have received information on when a ticket sale will be available after the transaction date. e.g. T-7.

When do I get access to funds?

When you get access to a ticket sale, it is determined by the T+'x', or transaction settlement date. This will be communicated to you during your Airwallex onboarding.

*'T+X' refers to how many days after the transaction date you get access to that ticket sale.

For example, if your account is approved for a T+7 settlement period and you make a sale on 1st September, you will get access to that ticket sale 7 days later (on the 8th).

Important things to note about the Airwallex KYC and KYB onboarding:

  • Main industry

    • The available categories in Airwallex don’t always perfectly match the event types on Humanitix. Choose the closest option to your event.

  • Delivery time

    • We recommend selecting "1 month+". This is a general term referring to the general sales cycle of the event, not the delivery of the actual digital ticket, which is instant.

  • Using current providers

    • Select “No” when asked if you’re currently using other payment providers

  • Expected volumes

    • Expected average transaction = total expected ticket sales ÷ number of expected orders

    • Expected monthly volume = yearly ticket sales ÷ 12

  • Expected max transaction amount

    • This is the largest single order you expect a buyer to make. We recommend setting this higher to allow for group bookings or bundle purchases. If this value is too low, larger legitimate orders may be declined.

  • Seasonal note

    • If your event has big spikes in sales (for example, an on-sale), flag it with the Humanitix team as soon as you submit your Airwallex application. This helps Airwallex avoid mistakenly flagging large volume surges as unusual activity.
