U.S. tax laws require all Humanitix users to submit taxpayer information if they process orders using Humanitix Payment Processing in the United States. Non-U.S. citizens should complete Form W-8 (e.g., W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E) to confirm they're exempt from U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reporting requirements.

If you're a U.S. citizen collecting payments abroad, submit a Form W-9 instead.

If you do not provide us with your taxpayer information at your first paid event, Humanitix will hold all future payouts until the form is completed.

Why we need your taxpayer information

Humanitix collects taxpayer information for non-US citizens who meet the following criteria:

  • You’re hosting events in the US and have international payouts

  • You’re hosting events internationally and have US payouts

Humanitix needs your Taxpayer Information to confirm that you're a non-U.S. citizen exempt from the IRS reporting requirements. To avoid any payout delays, add your taxpayer information before you publish your event.

Information we collect

The information we collect appears on a Form W-8 (e.g., W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E and should be entered into the Taxpayer Information section of your Humanitix account.

Humanitix can only collect taxpayer information from one party. If you're collecting funds for a third party or multiple organizers, please get in touch with your tax advisor for advice on how to complete your Form W-8 (e.g., W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E).

Add or update your taxpayer information

Taxpayer Information is only available to the account owner. Team members will not be able to complete the Form W-8 (e.g., W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E) from within their account.

  1. Log in to your Humanitix account and select Account > My Account from the top menu bar.

  2. From the left navigation menu, click Taxpayer info.

  3. Select your tax status and complete the secure digital form that appears.

  4. Click Save.

To update your taxpayer information, select the form again, make your edits and click Save.

If you need help filling out the tax form, review the form instructions for W8BEN/W8BEN-E available on the IRS website. To update your tax form, click on the three dots and select “Edit”.

If you don’t enter your taxpayer information

If you don't enter your taxpayer information, Humanitix will hold your payouts.

Once taxpayer information is added, Humanitix sends eligible payouts in the next payment run. You should expect your payment to land within 5 business days.
