Updated over a week ago

If you're unable to get in touch with the event host, you can report the alleged infringement to our DMCA/Trademark Agent at [email protected]. Please ensure you provide the necessary information outlined below so that we can work on removing the infringing material from Humanitix as soon as possible.

What is copyright or trademark infringement?

A copyright protects a creative work or representation from being duplicated without permission of the copyright holder. For example, works protected by a copyright can include images, videos, music, paintings, digital photography or graphics, and even dance choreograpy.

The "copyright holder" is the person who created the work, unless ownership has been changed to someone else. It is "copyright infringement" to do any of these without the express permission of the copyright holder:

  • Copy or produce work;

  • Create a new work derived from the original work;

  • Sell or give away the work, or a copy of the work before the copyright/trademark owner has done so; or

  • Perform or display the work in public.

For example, an event host uses a photo that is subject to copyright as their event banner, without the copyright holder's permission. This constitutes copyright infringement by the event host.

A trademark is any word, name, phrase, symbol, or design that identifies and distinguishes the goods of one manufacturer or seller from those of others.

"Trademark infringement" may occur when someone uses a trademark which is identical or confusingly similar to a trademark owned by someone else, in relation to products or services which are identical or similar to the products or services which the trademark registration covers.
